Just when we thought we were done with paperwork!

Yesterday we had our biometrics appointment and everything went great. Nick went through with no problems, my hands had to much moisture on them so the computer kept rejecting them but she finally got it to work. We were also going to get our papers apostilled. After driving around Downtown Detroit for 20 minutes we finally found a parking spot. Went into the Cadillac Building thinking it would be a little office to go to, nope it was the Secretary of State. There were 2 waiting rooms full of people, we didn't want to wait that long so we left and will send them in instead.

So after reading other blogs we got excited to hear that a week after your fingerprints you will get your acceptance letter from USCIS. Of course it can't be that easy for us. We received a letter on January 25th from USCIS that we had to change some wording in our home study, two day's later we ok'ed the wording. Our International agency sent a copy to USCIS to see if it would pass and they said yes. Next step, our MI agency had to notarize 5 copies and send them to our International agency to notarize and send to USCIS. Today I e-mailed USCIS to see if they received everything and they had not received our changes. When I talked to our International agency they said they never received them. Now to find out where the papers are and get them there on time since we only have 45 days to do it or they throw out our paperwork and we have to start again. Good thing I e-mailed them since I thought everything was taken care of and we easily could have passed the 45 day mark. This is the second time that papers have got lost in transition. Frustrating to think that all of our information (birth date, SS#, full names, addresses) could be somewhere for the wrong person to see.

Needless to say, it will put us back another couple weeks as we wait for this to be taken care of. I guess just one more setback, soon we will forget all about it when we see our little boy. Gods way of telling us that the right child is not available for us yet!
